We’ve got flowers! Or I should say, a flower. When we moved in, there were four hydrangea bushes planted in the ground in the back yard. All four were bare twigs. We began watering them every day to see if we could nurse them back to health. Three sprouted leaves. Scout ate the other one (seriously).

When B’s parents came to visit over July Fourth, they helped us repot them, and we passed one of the plants to them as a thank you.

And continued watering. Finally, all that water has yielded a single bloom:
